Taken for Ranted > Getting Old Is Not For Sissies
Bette Davis might have said it first (or maybe it was Lady Astor), but I first heard it from my mom, who is fond of saying this when beset by the tribulations that old age has thrown at her. The second part, "but it sure beats the alternative" is courtesy my friend Ray, a 69-year-old ski instructor. Not sure who said it first.
