Southern California Rapid Transit District
Here are a few items that feature the original Los Angeles RTD herald, used from 1960 until 1980 when the second RTD logo was adopted.
The SCRTD was formed by state legislation which reorganized public transit in Southern California in 1964. At that time the first LAMTA was reorganized and became the SCRTD. This herald was used on all of the SCRTD's transit buses. There was a second SCRTD herald which went into use in approximately 1980. The SCRTD later was merged with the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission (LACTC) in 1993 to form today's LACMTA.
