The Historical Society of Long Beach is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization, with archive and offices located in Long Beach. At our facility and through our programs, we promote, develop, exhibit, and preserve Long Beach history. We serve students, educators, researchers, and those interested in local history.
HSLB’s collection contains over 30,000 photographic images, and even more documents and records, including city directories, maps, architectural drawings, postcards, pamphlets, brochures and three-dimensional artifacts. Parts of the collection include 19th century land deeds, objects from Long Beach’s first silent film studio, glass negatives from photographer Charles Daugherty, and a vast collection of the commercial photographic works of Lawrence Inman and the Winstead Brothers.
Through this site we hope to bring a piece of Long Beach history to you.
