Dolphin Trudy

We bet you can guess why DCP ID#057 was affectionately called "Hook" before being formally named. This adult female spotted dolphin's dorsal fin has quite a unique tip! She has been seen almost every year since 2001; Trudy approached DCP researchers quite frequently during the 2006 and 2008 seasons. She seems to enjoy checking out the humans, although she is usually quite tranquil, almost serene in her swimming style around the “split-fins”. During 2006, Trudy was not shy about showing off her calf, DCP ID#084. This mother/calf pair was seen with several other dolphins, including Finn (ID#09), Juliette (ID#12) and Lil' Jess (ID#35). We were thrilled to see Trudy in 2008 with another calf - perhaps she was introducing her newest offspring to us! In the picture to the left, you can see Trudy with her older calf (ID#084).
