No event that you can hear will leave you unaffected. Sound enters your body and makes things happen in there - it's not something you can control. So the best antidote is to choose the sound around you, including sounds to make... whether singing or chanting or pleasant humming to yourself. And when you're not in the mood to make sounds yourself, certainly choose the very best-feeling sounds to listen to.

My life seemed to start with singing. It seems like that's why I'm here and certainly what I still continue to do. To spend as much time with music and musicians as I can, in 1986 I set up Straight Arrow as both a label and a recording/mastering studio so I could spend much of my waking life in this world of sound.

Although my first recordings were actually in the late 60's (of blues musicians and singer-songwriters in the Philadelphia area) my craft has since been honed by some very good training with top engineers at NPR, and about exactly 25 years of location and studio recording.

My crew has grown a little bit - with Geoff Brumbaugh as absolutely the best digital and analog tech an engineer could hope for; and now Greg (Moctar) Flatt has moved into his new role as recording assistant and engineer-in-training - joining the team as we gear up for full production in our new mastering and transfer studios (The Breadbox in Brattleboro.

As the public finds many precious r/r tapes, cassettes and LP's are becoming unplayable, we've made it our mission to have players in top condition along with a few older digital formats, so we can make pro-quality transfers to CD for you. Our services include... if you wish... getting rid of old tape hiss and record noise, as well as adding custom graphics and images to the CD.

For your stimulation (and certainly in the spirit of fun) I've created a line of products to both give some visibility to what I do, and to help raise consciousness about high-value music and sound.

Enjoy what is here (and buy it, of course) but also apply YOUR imagination. Please let me know what additional things you'd like to see in the store that aren't here yet, and I'll see what we can do.
