In good times and bad, the "third" thing that helps most of us get through life is a Jewish sense of humor. The first is G-d, the second is love, and the third is laughter. Cherish all three.

Thanks for your interest in A Bissal Funny. I'm glad you stopped in.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Marilynn and I am a mid-western, middle-aged, way-to-early widowed mom. This makes me infinately qualified to know how badly we all need a good laugh now and again.

I've always looked at life through a 'slightly wrinkled' mirror and I love sharing what I see there with anyone who remembers how to giggle. (At least I 'think' it's the mirror that's wrinkled).

So, how did "A Bissal Funny" come into being? I can't pinpoint the exact moment, but my son and I found ourselves thinking up some ideas one evening while having dinner and laughing like Funny Farm escapees. The more we laughed, the more we came up with ludicrous ideas (some of which you'll n-e-v-e-r see).

The more I thought about it, the more I realized this is not a highly developed area in any Jewish community and started writing it all down on napkins.

I decided to hit on the biggest community in the world, the Internet, to see if anyone else thought these were funny ideas. To my delight I've found others who are "wrinkled" too. And, I hope you find this site worthy enough to share with your friends.

Boychiks and Madeles, it's time we took our place and cracked the barrier of lovely/funny Christmas shirts, Easter, Halloween, WWJD? (What would Jesus do?) and all the other reasons that others wear decorated shirts. Our Time Has Come! (poo! poo! poo!) WWMD? (What would Moses do?). He'd take a chance and buy my stuff, that's what.

Besides thinking up strange shirt & gift ideas, I also write silly children's poetry, which I've never had the nerve to get published. My husband (of blessed memory) always wanted me to try, but.....yeh, maybe.....I dunno, well, blah, blah, blah.

I also collect teddy bears and have a website about my "HUG" (ie. a collection of teddy bears), and sometimes I post my unpublished poems to that sight. Does that count? I think that counts.

Ruby's World, is a where all (almost all) the inhabitants are teddy bears. Most live in a large guest house owned by "MOM" and Ruby Rose (a Sternsey bear). They share meals, recreation, holidays and more together at "The Homestead". Meet them and find great places to visit in each room of the house. This site is suitable for kids from 6 months to 100, so not to worry.(

The other strange and wonderful thing that I do is collect menorahs. I have way, way to many. Friends, newspapers & TV reporters have come to enjoy my "last night of Chanukah" party each year when all of the menorot are lit. Over 2000 candles or oil bowls burn brightly together - and it gets mighty warm in my kitchen. Living in the mid-west, as I do, I'm probably the only house that runs the air conditioner in December.

The song says, "From my window, where you can see the glow...", well, I don't do this in an open window because I'm afraid someone will think the house is on fire and call for help.

My greatest gift is my son, Matthew (means: gift from G--), who puts the joy in my soul and is largely responsible for making me so meshuga that I've grown to actually "prefer" looking through 'slightly wrinkled' mirrors.
