Eda Arts Inc. > Frida Kahlo Circles
Frida Kahlo is one of Mexico’s most famous artists. She is considered a surrealist painter. Mario Castillo, a Chicago muralist, created this artwork to pay tribute to Frida and her husband Diego Rivera, one of Los Tres Grandes. Frida as a female activist is considered a very strong women who always stood for Women’s liberties. She has become world renown, just as the three great ones Jose Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, & of course Rivera. You may see the Castillo’s mural of “Las Memorias Antiguas de la Raza del Maguey Aun Respiran” at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen, Chicago. In this image Frida resembles Selma Hayek, and she is surrounded by Mesoamerican art symbols, which she loved so much and collected along with her husband Diego.
