STUPID DESIGN - INTELLIGENT DESIGN
Every time someone chokes, every time something "goes down the wrong way", they're a victim of the stupid (or at least unintelligent) design of our throat region. No intelligent designer in his/her/its right mind would make the airway pass through the food canal.
This is clearly a hangover from our history as fish. If we'd been designed to have lungs at the outset, there's no reason the two tubes should not stay parallel as shown. Then we'd be able to eat and breathe at the same time. (You can discuss among yourelves how speech would have evolved with that vocal system.)
This is another clear examples of the route of evolution reaching a sub-optimal result - something an intelligent designer could have found a way around.
(But see if you can convince a Creationist of any of that!)
