Gandhi's Family Values
Mahatma Ghandi proved something of great importance; that positive social change need not come from the barrel of a gun. There are many sorts of power, and it's best when possible, to do the most good with the least harm. Fortunately this is not only possible, but easily so - as he so ably demonstrated.
All one has to do is give up the illusion of the need to control other people in order to make a difference. Gandi led by example, by giving people something to aspire to, rather than fear.
His Seven Deadly Social Sins are justly famous, for they plainly show the things that cause societies to fall apart, without making taboo the rewards that make folks wish to be social. Gandi's ethics were a little richer and a lot wiser in the ways of humanity than "just say no."
