These weather symbols have been designed by Mike Afford, former Senior Graphic Designer at the BBC. Mike has won a number of industry awards including BAFTA, Royal Television Society and Broadcast Designers' Association awards for graphics. He spent a number of years at the BBC Weather Centre and led the design team responsible for the award-winning BBC Weather graphics.
These new original symbols were made in response to many requests relating to the original 'old school' BBC Weather symbols which are, of course, protected by copyright and cannot be used without permission from the BBC. This new set of original weather symbols have been designed from scratch to retain the flavour and feel of old school TV weather symbols.
