It was very late in the day and they were about to close when I made it into the city shelter that day. I adopted her without getting a chance to meet her. They spayed her and I brought her home the next day, covered in pee and frantic to placate everyone she saw. She was four months old, all ears and a funny ridge of vertical fur along her back.
Nicknamed at first "dragon puppy" for her ridge of upright fur along her backbone and her tendency to hoard all the dog toys and curl around them like a dragon with a treasure trove, she grew up into a drivey herding dog who is thriving at flyball and agility. She does whatever is asked of her to the absolute best of her ability.
She still has the ridge of upright fur and is often identified as the border collie with a mohawk at tournaments.
