Small town boys travels to India, fears for life
Synopsis
Himalayan Hoedown is a true Keseyian tale in which a beautiful devotee of the guru Swami Shyam lures a merry prankster from the backwoods of America to India. Once in India, he finds himself in an imbroglio of sex, corruption, and inner turmoil, while forced to stare at his belly button for weeks at a time. The author struggles with his own faith while going through the cults meditative exercises, and the gurus Socratic dialogues, until unwittingly, he becomes one of the gurus favorites. Working from the inside, he discovers that the bastion of enlightenment has corrupt underpinnings with rape, theft, and attempted murder, all taking its toll on the souls and lives of the followers. Thousands of miles from home, in a perilous environment and hormonally imbalanced, the author must rely on his bootstrapping Pacific Northwest values, his sense of humor and the marvelously connected natives of India, who know better than to have anything to do with Swami Shyam. HIMALAYAN HOEDOWN (Surviving Nirvana) is an odyssey that encompasses crime and salvation, lust and love, illusion and bliss.
