I created this quilted "Birth Lotus" pillow cover while preparing for the birth of my second son, Quinn. I found it affirming and focusing to work on. The spiral in the center of the lotus flower symbolizes opening up for birth ~ blooming, releasing the birth energy. This piece was a bit feisty and a little more difficult than I thought it would be at first - much like birth!
The original quilted piece is created from cotton fabrics and machine-quilted. The flower petals are raw-edge pieced. Many colors of thread were used to embroider the top.
