The Vegvisir (Direction finder) or (Viking compass) is an old Nordic symbol made of bindrunes. It's similar to the Aegishjalmur (Helm of awe). It is said that he Vikings believed that when the vegvisir is worn or tattooed on, the bearer was able to find their direction in foggy conditions or cloudy nights when the North star was not visible. The Icelandic singer Bjork has a tattoo of a vegvisir on her left arm. I started designing my own stylized vegvisirs back in 2003 after attempting to research Viking compasses on the web. I was surprised to find that only crude simple examples could be found. Now I see people using my vegvisirs for avatars, journal backgrounds and tattoos. I thought they would look great on T-shirts so here they are!.
