US Route 395 is a highway that existed between Laurier, Washington and San Diego California, covering a distance of 1,490 miles. It was established as a part of the U.S. Highways route network in 1926, although it did not stretch from Canada to Mexico until the 1930s. Today it exists between Laurier, Washington and Hesperia, California. The route is also known as the “Three Flags Highway”, with the “three flags” representing the fact the road touches three nations: Canada, the United States and Mexico. Although it passes through, or used to pass through, some large cities: San Diego, Riverside, Reno and Spokane, it is mostly a road that connects small towns and large expanses of the wide open American west. In 1969 the southern terminus at San Diego was shortened to Hesperia, CA with the southern portion being replaced by US Interstate Route 15, but the old highway can be followed into downtown San Diego. The road shields on merchandise represent a historically accurate design and type font that was present on road marker signs from the 1930s through the 1950s, although some signs probably lasted longer until road crews replaced them. Thanks for visiting my online shop! The merchandise for sale may be a bit more expensive than expected, but the designs shown here are only available here, or are sold by other US routes fans who purchased them from here. Happy travels along the highways of the US – the routes that tie us together as a nation.
