Is YOUR pen an enemy weapon? With a global war ongoing, any chance of letting secrets slip had to be squashed. Mail between home and the troops abroad was censored, but there was always the danger that some apparently innocent remark may tip off the enemy to troop movements, or some other piece of information which could potentially aid them. This image was one of the starker ones, showing a US soldier's helmet rsting on a wooden cross, and impaled on a pen, with blood smeared on the nib. Clearly this was a message to be taken seriously!
