  • Many of the vintage illustrations and artwork that you will find on the pages of our site has been carefully retouched due to damage garnered over time. The original images, from turn of the century ephemera, had often travelled through the US mail, by whatever means employed at the time: horse & buggy / horseback, and then by rail to auto (by 1901). The heyday of the postcard is represented in Eleanor's Vintage Gift Shop; the art of the postcard flourished roughly up until World War I, or until the German printers were destroyed. The beautifully rendered images of children by artist Ellen Clapsaddle can be found throughout this site.

The other main feature of our shop are children's illustrations from all time classic children's books / literature from the Golden Age of Illustration. Great artists like W.W. Denslow (1856-1915) for the Wizard of Oz and The Pearl and the Pumpkin, amazing artist Charles Robinson (1870 - 1937) for Bee, Princess of the Dwarfs, Palmer Cox (1840-1924) for his fantastic Brownies, and John R. Neill (1877- 1943) for the Oz series and many more are represented in our collection.

All the images herein are gleaned from a personal collection and borne of a pure appreciation of the artistry beheld. For Holiday gifts and presents, re-visit the past with vintage artist illustrations from children's books, rare postcards and eclectic ephemera, all to be found in Eleanor's vintage shop. Great holiday gifts available for purchase include women's and men's clothing like T-Shirts, long-sleeve cotton shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, aprons, tank tops, organic tee shirts, hats, bags, maternity, baby / infant clothes & bibs as well as kids' shirts, tees and hoodies; fun decorative gifts like calendars, stickers, framed tiles, magnets, buttons, mouse pads, ornaments, posters, framed prints; cool housewares like clocks, tile coasters, and mugs and lots of ways to keep in touch with style the old-fashioned way with greeting cards, postcards, note cards, journals and more. Shop from the heyday of design & the golden age of illustration, when great artists were employed to appeal to the holiday spirit across the miles.
