DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! Gavin Newsom is all style (and styling products), but no substance. He has chosen to lead by press releases and vetoes, picking a couple favorite liberal issues to cause a national stir and give the appearance of being more progressive than his track record actually demonstrates. However, if you stop and look at his record, you'll find that he totally lacks a vision that a world-class city like San Francisco deserves. In his repeated cowardice, he has vetoed significant progressive legislation that would address issues like our rising street violence and decreasing transit services. He has chosen to ignore the voters who overwhelmingly asked him to comply with Prop I - appearing before the Board of Supes for "Question Time" to engage in dialogue about the state of the City. Instead, he has usurped this mandate into his own re-election campaign - where he can speak on-script & avoid his fear of being caught off-guard and without the advice of his handlers. He has made it clear that he'd rather schmooze with celebs in LA, harvest contributions in NY, govern in Sacto, and be whispered about in DC. Fine. Good. Let Gavin Go. San Francisco deserves to be more than a stepping stone for a shallow political ego. Grab a t-shirt & tell Mayor Newsom to fly the coop in 2007!
