Standtall2 offers you an eclectic blend of influences, ranging from mostly progressive, techno and classical sources. It sounds like no one else.

The bio :
Standtall2 (originally Standtall but changed since a reggae band of the same name seems to have quite a bit of success) is the name chosen by Marc Gendron, the man behind Standtall2. Marc, now 41, is hailing from Palmarolle, Abitibi, QC, Canada. He started classical piano at age 6. In his first year of college in the mid-80’s, he joined OHM, a hard progressive band which was doing covers and original songs. Together, they won some music contests. However, soon Marc was recruited by a local band called Maximum30. They intensively toured Quebec and Ontario for nearly two years. Because of financial problems, their association terminated and Marc formed a new band called Standtall.

Tired of touring and living in cheap hotels, Marc heads back to the university. He founded a family and forgot about music for over 10 years, working in the field of social services since then.

In 1999, he discovers PC assisted music creation, and realises he can get back to it in the comfort of his home with his family around. Soon, a first album by Standtall is available through Mp3.com. More a statement of « I can do it by myself » thing than a real musical statement, it does sell a bit. Songs like Northern Tango that as since been rearranged since and placed on the new album, rose to number 3 in the progressive rock chart at Mp3.com.

Since Standtall2 is a home studio thing and comes third behind familiy and work in his priorities, Marc took 7 years to compose, find new ways to work with his PC and gadgets.

In the next week or so, you'll find here the new standtall2 eponymous album. Here is an album that truly represents the musical visions of Marc.
