Our new range of 'Anzac' products commemorates the famous Australian soldier of both World Wars.
The title "ANZAC' refers to the 'Australian (&) New Zealand Army Corps' and has been used to describe an Australian soldier since its introduction during the First World War. The term 'ANZAC' came about in 1915 when units of the Australian and New Zealand Army combined to assault the Gallipoli beaches in Turkey during the First World War. The Gallipoli campaign became a defining moment in the military history of both countries with an offensive which ultimately proved to be a disaster. The ANZACS became a household word and is used to this day with much affection for the Australian soldier.
Australian soldiers are also referred to as 'Diggers' and is regularly used to describe Privates in the Australian Army. Its origin is said to have derived from the workers on the Australian gold fields during the Colonial Gold Rush era who sought the elusive gold by digging and panning for it. It came into regular Army usage when Australian troops adopted the title during the First World War on the Western Front, which was in the main, trench warfare with a constant requirement to dig and maintain trenches.
This year is the 90th Aniversary of the Galipoli campaign and as such we have designed some unique designs that epitomise the ANZAC and Australian Digger. We think they are great and we hope you think so too.
At the end of the day "we will always remember them ..."
