Our return to Marrz for the Cape Fear Blues Festival in Wilmington, NC features such soulful songs as "Ball And Chain", "Catch Me Daddy" and "Raise Your Hand"
Return to Marrz should be a must have album for all those baby boomers who wonder where music has gone to in the past decades; to be fair, the album is not only suitable for the boomers but for those who are re discovering the sounds of the 60's/70's before the likes of heavy and death metal pushed aside real music. Return to Marrz, whilst having many influences (I notice that the band refer to Killing Floor being in Led Zep style) is not an album that sets out to solely recreate those heady days. The band are excellent musos in their own right and it is this that shines throughout the album. Take a listen to 'Summertime' or 'Hi Heel Sneakers' and if you are not playing along and singing the words, perhaps the band might forgive you but I won't! This is one of those rare albums that comes along, hits you head on and drags you back to the days of loon pants and sloop T shirts. I'd call it retro-mod music, but let's forget the labels and just say this is a damned fine album that will only encourage more people to tune in and turn onto other great masters such as Janis Joplin and the Big Brother Holding Company, Led Zep, possibly Spirit and going further back to those great blues guys Robert Johnson, Santo and Johnny and their like. This band knows their material and their musical roots, need I say more? Tony Bates 3WBC 94.1FM Melbourne Australia
