Skeletons are animals minus flesh. They represent the absence of life, yet also the temperament of the living in the face thereof. Skeletons evoke therefor not only fear, but also levity.

What's more, the skeleton is universal to all humans, and an unmistakable symbol that connects us all. Sooner or later, we will all kick the bucket. And thank goodness for that. For without death there could be no life.
