We created this collection of gear for political cynics to promote the ideals of skeptical independence in American political life. We shamelessly mix political and philosophical ideas with the purpose of provoking reconsideration of popular assumptions about life and its meaning.
Sin Nickel takes its inspiration from the Greek philosopher Diogenes. Called a Cynic, Diogenes encouraged people to deface the coinage, by which he meant a radical reinterpretation of officially sanctioned iconography. To that end, we bring you items with recycled icons: Strange combinations of cultural icons that seem to be coming from very different traditions, but perhaps are not as different as we think.
