Silver Day

Silver Day Photomontage created using images of actual snowflakes from W. A. Bentley's Snow Crystals, first published in 1931 and reissued by Dover Books for graphic artists and designers' use. Bentley, an amateur photographer from Vermont, invented a way to capture and photograph snow before it melted, and ever since reading about his efforts in an old National Geographic, I've been in love with his work. The scans were silhouetted and colorized in Photoshop 4; this version uses a white background to emphasize the snowflakes' delicacy.
