QUEEN ELIZABETH THE FIRST TILBURY QUOTE (1588)
"I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman;
but I have the heart and stomach of a king!" Part of Queen
Elizabeth I's famous speech to the land forces assembled
at Tilbury in Essex in preparation to repel the
expected invasion by the Spanish Armada in 1588. This quote
was found in a letter from Dr. Leonel Sharp sometime after
1624 to the Duke of Buckingham , arguing against the Spanish
marriage of Prince Charles and features here on a wide range of
t-shirts , greeting cards , posters , prints ,
mugs and gifts .
Any
portraits or engravings used in designs for these products have
either been scanned from 19th Century or early 20th Century books
on the subject or photographed from the original images by Sally
McLean or photographers acting on her behalf. The images have
then been digitally cleaned up, restored and formatted for use.
