Southern California Rapid Transit District
The second herald for the Southern California Rapid Transit District. The SCRTD, or RTD, was formed by state legislation in 1964. It's creation was the result of a reorganization of public transit in the Southern California region. This logo was adopted in approximately 1980, and was used until 1993.
In 1993, the state legislature again got involved with public transit in Los Angeles. This reorganization resulted in the creation of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. This agency merged the SCRTD and the Los Angeles County Tranportation Commission.
