On September 27, 2006, a double-decker tractor-trailer bound for the Cavel Industries slaughterhouse overturned on I-44 in Missouri. Of the 41 horses on board only 24 would survive the horrific crash. These horses continue to recover at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, MO.
