In March of 2004, Zeke was diagnosed with a severe brain injury due to symptoms from a severe and unusual case of bacterial pneumonia. At home with his parents, Zeke does a daily neurological developmental program taught and given to Laurie and Don by the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP) in Philadelphia. Zeke along with his parents visit IAHP two times a year for a week so Zeke can be evaluated, given an updated program and for his parents to be educated. His parents bring this knowledge back to their Lititz home where they implement the programs to aide in Zeke’s development.
