  Cleveland Painter, Rebecca Grantham has a passion for landscape painting.

   Painting outside in nature, en plein air is the most inspiring and rewarding way for me to paint.

Being outside immersed in nature, I can completely lose myself and be surrounded with the living energy that drenches my senses in beauty from the temperatures, and colors, to the sounds. I love how nothing is static; no two seconds are exactly the same. No two days are the same. The sunlight bouncing off the leaves, the natural cycles, the gentle or strong movements caused by the wind, the shifting of the sun, the buds, blooms and fallen petals, the autumn leaves quickly changing in color or a rapidly sinking sun are rhythms that draw my breath away stealing my mind and capturing my undivided attention.

   My paintings always begin with a moment outside in nature on site. What's most important is for me to grab hold of the essence of the entire series of moments I am experiencing through my brushes and knives. I carry the patterns of color, light, atmosphere, wind and movement through myself and let them live on my canvas creating an abstract impressionist work of art.
