Al-Qaws (“the rainbow” in Arabic), an Arabic-language website for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender (LGBT) people.
Al-Qaws is the first Jerusalem-based Arabic portal providing contents on sexual and gender identity, as well as offering safe discussion forums and other features. Its chief goal is to open up dialogue on LGBT issues by creating an attractive, accessible and interactive virtual safe space for unbiased information.
In creating Al-Qaws, the main challenge was about making it possible to bring together our cultural identity as Palestinian and Arab, and our personal identity as lesbians or gays.
The Al-Qaws portal is one of key initiatives of the Palestinian community and programming project at the Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance. To learn more, please visit our website:
