Poker & Chaos Store NC Lighthouses Cape Lookout Lighthouse
The Cape Lookout light that you see featured was built in 1859. Almost identical to the Bodie Island light in construction with the exception of the stripe pattern. It is one of only a few lighthouses that are lighted day and night. The lighthouse is part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore and can only be accessed by private ferry. A few times a year, visitors are allowed to climb to the top of the 163 foot lighthouse. During the summer, the Cape Lookout Light Station Visitor Center and Keepers' Quarters are also open.
