A bad beat is when a player that holds the best hand when the money hits the pot ultimately loses as he is out drawn. In order for this to happen his opponent has to make a bad call and end up sucking out. Bad beats tend to have a negative emotional impact on a player sometimes causing them to go on tilt and often invoking rage. A good player realizes that bad beats are just part of the game, shrugs them off and plays the next hand as if nothing happened.
