The Best

This famous and beautiful silhouette shot of the P-38 and its crew at sunset is overlaid with the perfect poem for fans of the P-38:

"Some pilots are good,
Some pilots are great.
The best of all
flew the P-38!"

Fork-Tailed Devil

The German Luftwaffe gave the P-38 the nickname of "Der Gabelschwanz Teufel"or the "Forked-Tailed Devil" (maybe because it "went like hell" according to aviation author Warren Bodie.

This particular insignia (minus the "P-38 Lightning" text at the bottom) was used by the 49th Fighter Squadron out of Foggia, Italy.

Squadron Insignias

We have quite a few products available with the P-38 squadron insignias.  Although not complete by any stretch, we're adding more all the time.

This is a great way to show respect and admiration for the men who served in these squadrons.

"Sparky" the P-38 Lightning in Camo

This cute little guy was designed especially for us by the nice folks at Victory Girl.

We've had many requests to bring in a product just for kids, and this is about the cutest darned thing we could do.  (It's also available in straight-off-the-Lockheed-line silver.)

Favorite Aircraft of the Aces

There's no debate. The top "Aces" of WWII flew P-38s.

It was the favorite combat airplane of Dick Bong and Tommy McGuire, the top scoring aces of the war.

And this beautiful Jack Fellows artwork makes it easy to see why.

Watch Your 6!

For those of you not familiar with this expression, it means to look behind you for dangers coming that you can't see.

If you view an airplane from the top and lay an analog clock over it, the 6 o'clock position is behind the plane.

WASPs

A lot of people don't realize that women ever flew P-38s, but they did.  In fact, Evelyn Sharp (who was an original member of the WASPs died when the P-38 she was to ferry crashed soon after takeoff.
