A national hero in his native Sylvania, the iconoclastic lensman has nonetheless steadfastly resisted any and all international exposure. Jesmoe (whose full name, translated from his native Sylvanese dialect, means "When excited I wet myself!") traces his nascent photographic interests to the early Seventies when, as a journalist for the state owned news agency, Cacaphooey, he was sent to cover the undeclared war between Sylvania and Rhode Island. The stark, disturbing battle images, which have thus far only appeared in the Sylvanian press, affected the young artist. Upon his return to native soil he vowed to only focus his lens upon, "…things of beauty...oh, and fat people eating ice cream." Noble Beast Press is proud to be able to offer the first of what we hope are many opportunities to view the work of this talented, enigmatic image capturer.
