"Imagine, if you will, the world of the not too distant future. On one hand, advanced and futuristic, on the other, bleak and war-torn. The advanced nations of the world develop miraculous levels of medical science and put colonies on neighboring planets, while the world's less-developed nations suffer in abject poverty. Eventually, jealousy and misunderstandings turn into world-wide terrorist attacks, culminating in "The Incidents", when bio-chemical weapons are unleashed. The nano-virii of these man-made Plagues quickly spread and mutate, killing billions in their wake. Eight out of ten humans die almost instantly. Of the survivors, some change and mutate in unpredictable, frightening ways. The world is in chaos, it's once glittering cities stand nearly empty. The virii eventually attack every living thing on earth, mutating and changing great numbers of beasts, plants and insects. The knowledge to sustain the once all-encompassing technology is all but lost in the untold dead. The struggle to survive and rebuild civilization is compounded with constant war and rebellion in the world of Mutazoids. *This new Open Game / Open Die version of the game is based upon the original released in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
