Bong Hits 4 Jesus is the now famous Supreme Court Case involving an Alaskan High School student (Joseph Frederick) who displayed a banner with those words as the Olympic Torch passed by the school. Frederick was on public property, not on school grounds, and not part of the class groups watching, yet he was suspended. He sued and won on Free Speech grounds in the 9th circuit, but the Supreme Court overturned the ruling on a close decision (see bong.drugwarrant.com )
Did "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" mean anything? Frederick says no. But it doesn't matter now. The words have become a symbol of individuality -- of students versus authoritarian repression, of free speech, of the ability to annoy those who just don't get it.
Bong Hits for Jesus is individuality and freedom. It is America.
