Synopsis:
Originally published as "Lake Erie Islands: Put-in-Bay, Middle Bass, Kelley's Etc." To our knowledge, this first picture book about the Lake Erie Islands has never been reprinted before. Published in 1886 by Adolph Wittemann in New York, it contains 16 pages of images with a surprising amount of detail. There were actually two different editions. The 1st edition had the first 12 pages in this book, plus a color map inside that we placed on the back cover. The 2nd edition had 4 more pages with a slightly different style, and no map. We have combined both editions in this reprint. Images counts are the following: PIB 11, MB 8, Gibraltar 9, Kelleys 1, Ballast 3, Green 1, Rattlesnake 1, Johnson Island 1, Marblehead Lighthouse 1, Steamers 2, Ice Boat 1.
