Welcome to the Spread the Word, Charleston! online store. Spread the Word, Charleston! is a public awareness campaign for literacy. Have you heard? Nearly 1 in 4 people in the Tri-county area (Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester) are functionally illiterate. This means they can do little more than write their name or total a deposit slip. Trident Literacy Association is helping. They serve nearly 2000 motivated adults annually with about 200 volunteers. Won't you help spread the word?
