772nd Military Police Company Merchandise

Organized in 1638 as the Cohannet Train Band, Plymouth Colony Militia, the 772nd Military Police Company is the oldest company sized unit in the Army National Guard. The 772nd MP Company is one of the most highly decorated military units in the Army, possessing a rich lineage dating back to the Revolutionary War and subsequent action in the Civil War, World War II and the Desert Storm.
In December 1967 the unit received its current designation as the 772nd Military Police Company, it also consolidated with Company I, 101st Infantry, out of Attleboro, awarding it the Presidential Unit Citation for gallantry in action at Lorraine, France.
In 1990 the 772nd absorbed personnel from the 747th MP Company and the HHD 685th MP Battalion which had been deactivated.
On 7 January 1991 the 772nd was ordered into Federal service for duty in the Gulf War. It provided reconnaissance and security for main supply routes. The 772nd was released on 14 may 1991.
In 1995 the 772nd changed station to Brockton, Massachusetts, after being stationed in Taunton, Massachusetts, for 357 years. In 1998 the 772nd returned to Taunton, for it's second homecoming.
The 772nd MP Co. took on some of the biggest security challenges of Operation Enduring Freedom when they deployed in August 2002. They were tasked with the responsibility of providing personnel and perimeter security at the Coalition Joint Civil-Military Task Force Compound, the Kabul Military Training Center , and Bagram Air Base in the war-torn country of Afghanistan.

The 772nd Military Police Company is a part of the 211th Military Police Battalion.
The 211th MP Battalion consists of a Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment as well as six numbered line companies. Three of the companies are Massachusetts Army National Guard Organizations: the 747th Military Police Company, the 772nd Military Police Company, and the 972nd Military Police Company. The 94th Military Police Company is an Army Reserve Unit from New Hampshire. The 514th Military Police Company is an Army Reserve Unit from North Carolina. The 273rd Military Police Company is a National Guard Company from Washington, DC.

The distinctive unit insignia of the 211 Military Police Battalion was originally approved for the 126th Heavy Tank Battalion on 20 Apr 1950. It was designated for the 220th Infantry on 1 Jun 1961. On 13 Sep 1984 the insignia was designated for the 126th Signal Battalion. The distinctive unit insignia was designated for the 211th Military Police Battalion on 16 July 1996.
The insignia is the old badge of the First Corps of Cadets from which the organization is descended. A six-pointed mullet of rays is inscribed "MONSTRAT VIAM 1741." The inscription means "It points the way."
