The 221st Military Intelligence Battalion is a unit of the Georgia Army National Guard. It is allocated as a resource of the 504th Military Intelligence Brigade.
The Georgia Army National Guard is comprised of more than 9,000 citizen-soldiers drilling in units located across the state. Georgia’s Army Guard is the thirteenth largest in the nation and is made up of combat, combat support, and combat service support units. Over 60 percent of Georgia Army National Guard forces are high priority units first to deploy during a national crisis.
The Georgia Army National Guard maintains 90 armories, and is present in 73 communities.
The 221st Military Intelligence Battalion was one of the first Georgia Army National Guard units to be mobilized and the first to deploy for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In February 2003, more than 300 members of the Fort Gillem unit received their mobilization orders
The 504th Military Intelligence Brigade, located on West Fort Hood, provides multidiscipline intelligence including Human Intelligence, Signal Intelligence, and Imagery Intelligence.
Besides the 221st Military Intelligence Battalion, the 504th Military Intelligence Brigade has a Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment (HHD), the 15th MI Battalion (Aerial Exploitation), the 303rd MI Battalion (Operations), and the 321st MI Battalion (Corps Support)(USAR). Each battalion has a Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company (HHSC), which provides command, staff, consolidated maintenance, food service, and personnel and administrative support to its sister companies. The Headquarters Detachment (HHD) provides brigade command and control of staff elements.
Sixty-four members of Headquarters Company, 221st Military Intelligence Battalion, returned to Fort Gillem on Friday, August 15, 2003. The other members of the 221st Military Intelligence Battalion remain deployed.
There are three varieties of each shirt. One has only the crest of the 221st Military Intelligence Battalion. One has the crest of the 221st Military Intelligence Battalion and the shoulder patch of the Georgia Army Nation Guard. One has the crest of the 221st Military Intelligence Battalion and the shoulder patch of the 504th Military Intelligence Brigade. Look at the image. The way it looks on the picture of the product is the way it will look on the product.
