From the Contributor
the first poetry chapbook of the producer of kintespace.com
Synopsis
Bryan Wilhite, his first chapbook, The Adolescence of the Cool chronicles the twenty-something years of this award winning poet and creator of kintespace.com one of the earliest online arts sites produced by African people outside of institutional bricks and mortar laid by influential and well-meaning whiteness. This work stands as a testament to the vision of this man, who haunted the poetry scene of 1990s Los Angeles---from Kamau Daáoods Leimert Park to Midnight Special Santa Monica and Venice Beyond Baroque---silencing astonished audiences and alienating himself with unexpected word play, carrying a force toward serious depth, entering into realms explored by few of his contemporaries with explicit, powerful language---new and nude African language held captive in English. This work means to inherit from the same Africa stolen and given to all mankind. This is of the base toward the root.
