Hamsa, Eye of Fatima - ARTDANZ.COM

The eye-in-the-hand is a common symbol seen in many cultures and usually signifies protection and luck. Also called the Eye of Fatima and the Hamsa, this good luck charm is supposed to ward off the evil eye. This particular design is based on ancient artwork of the Indigenous Mississippian Culture that lived near the Black Warrior River in central Alabama. The Mississppian Culture existed long before the Cherokee, Creek and other Southeastern Indian Nations were formed. Purple symbolizes mystery, magic and royalty, and is associated with the crown chakra. Considered a spiritual color, purple is chosen by people seeking spiritual fulfillment.
