It's by no means imperative, but it certainly is reasonable to conclude after watching Democratic Party leadership that the Democratic Party leadership is more interested in its preservation than in the pursuit of liberal and progressive political goals. It is therefore reasonable to conclude that support for a third party may be the best avenue for the promotion of liberal and progressive ideals. If you find yourself in this position, don't be shy. Be honest and forthright in sharing your conclusions, and begin the open national discussion that has been stymied by the dominance of two parties.
