The best thing about September around here is watching live horse racing near historic Franklin, Kentucky. Every spring, we're likely to be rooting for our favorites in Louisville.
But horses are more than sports entertainment on special days of the year. They are Kentucky's largest agricultural business, providing jobs for many people. (I'm one of them!)

Horses also represent the work, the play, and the dreams of mankind. From the Trojan Horse to Pegasus and unicorns, from Black Beauty and National Velvet to My Friend Flicka and Seabiscuit, the horse has held a position of mythic proportions in the story of modern civilization.
Yes, we know it's the Year of the Tiger. But we celebrate the Horse!
