The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen originated in France and is part of the AKC Hound Group. Described as confident, happy, extroverted, independent, yet willing to please. His name in French tells all about him: Petit (small), Basset (low to the ground), Griffon (rough or wire coat) and Vendeen (area of France he originated). In U.S. PBGVs are referred to as "Petits", in England as"Griffs" or "Roughies" and in Denmark as "Griffs" or "Petits."
