Girl Biker Store : Support Dixie
In mid-August 2005, in Harnett County, NC, 4 girls between the ages of 12-15 set this spotted saddle horse’s tail on fire, probably using perfume or hairspray as the chemical agent. Today, Sept 1, Dixie had to have her tail amputated. Horses need their tails to swat flies and communicate with other horses. If Dixie survives (and she has a 60% chance of surviving), she won't be able to be outside very much or enjoy the company of other horses.
Dixie's owner, who cares for many other horses, spends 6 hours each day caring for Dixie and her wounds. Four times a day, Dixie needs a painful medicated bath to help fight the infection in her tail and leg (the infection spread, as often happens with burn victims).
Dixie’s owner, Vonda, is heartbroken. Please help her by purchasing these items – she has enough to worry about; let’s help her by making the high cost of treatment less of a burden.
