When the king visited the temple his feet could not touch the ground hence the stone walkways. Before he entered the temple he spent time reading Buddhist scriptures at the libraries like the one in the background. This famous world heritage site was once the center of a Khmer empire that included Cambodia, Burma, as well as most of Thailand and Vietnam. Though the largest of ancient religious and urban centers is was one of many in the area. It is an amazing arrangement of inner and outer galleries full of bas reliefs depicting Hindu and Buddhist beliefs and stories. Within the walls are numerous towers and shrines that still used by worshipers. There is a lot more where this came from. Take a look at my gallery.
