Small towers like these with real and false doors were usually built in a temple complex to commemorate someone important. This is Banteay Srei Temple Complex also called the Ladies’ Temple or Citadel of the Women because of the because of the delicacy of the carvings in the dark red sandstone. This well-restored Khmer Hindu temple is much older than and further north from Angkor Wat and was made mostly of red sandstone. The predominance of the monkey king Hanuman makes it clear who the temple complex is dedicated to. There is a lot more where this came from. Take a look at my gallery.
