The Maine Appalachian Trail Club, Inc. is a volunteer, public service organization established in 1935 to build, protect and maintain the 267 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. In addition, we maintain 40 miles of side trails and over 40 shelters and campsites. The MATC ( www.matc.org/ ) is responsible for trail structure, design, construction and maintenance, for monitoring activities in the AT corridor, and for public information and education. The work of the MATC safeguards the natural environment and benefits the hikers who recreate along the Maine Appalachian Trail each year. Support the Maine Appalachian Trail Club, a not for profit organization, by purchasing our t-shirts, hats, bags and other items.
