The Nuclear Peace design came out of collaboration on the
Focus Fusion Forums. The lines of the artwork made the
proton-boron fusion reaction look like a peace symbol. At first it seemed ironic to use a likeness of the peace symbol to promote clean nuclear power. The peace symbol was originally designed for the
Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. But then it made sense! Peace is an intrinsic part of this fusion reaction, because
boron-proton fusion can't be used to make nuclear weapons. Unlike nuclear
fission or deuterium-tritium fusion,
this reaction does not use or produce radioactive materials. Thus, nothing about this process can be diverted to nuclear weapons production. More importantly, access to unlimited energy can help
end poverty and bring about
global economic and environmental stability and security, key prerequisites of peace. How excellent to leverage appropriate nuclear technology to bring about nuclear disarmament!
